The Jai Center for Wellness was founded in 2016 in Gahanna, Ohio. The stand-alone Thai word "jai" (ใจ) is translated sometimes as "heart" or as "mind", depending on the context. For example kâo jai means to understand, or literally- to enter the heart or mind. The concept of something being known when it enters both the heart and the mind was what inspired the name for what was then a small wellness center cooperative. Today, the Jai Center for Wellness is a one-woman massage practice in Baltimore, Ohio. The intention to practice with a sincerity that can be experienced by both the heart and the mind remains.
